Black gardens and farms function in a multitude of ways, producing nutritious food, cultivating beauty, creating beneficial habitats for insects and animals, and providing respite for the soul. Join CAAM History Curator Susan D. Anderson to explore the contribution of Black people to the agricultural and horticultural heritage of the US along with Dr. Sheridan Ross, founder of the Compton Community Garden, and Carmen Dianne and Kara Still of the Los Angeles Prosperity Market. Together they will discuss green spaces, food justice, caring for the earth and each other, and what poet Lucille Clifton called, "the bond of living things everywhere."
